The Central Business District in Singapore is located in the Central Region of the Southern part of Singapore. Land here is very costly and subject to the strict control of the Urban Redevelopment Authority. It is highly regulated by the Urban Redevelopment Authority's plans and programmes.

Singapore is a city in itself but the area which is marked as the Central Business District in Singapore is what is mostly referred to as the city. The Singapore River flows through the Central Business District in Singapore. The mouth of the river was a very important point from where trading activities were carried on in olden times. Eventually, this place developed and became a very vital center of mercantile activities. This is how the Central Business District in Singapore emerged. It is also referred to as Golden Shoe because the boundaries of this district are in the shape of a shoe.

The Central Business District in Singapore consists of eleven planning area, which are Downtown Core, Museum, Orchard, Newton, Outram, River Valley, Rochor, Marina East, Marina South, Straits View and Singapore River. It is the prime area of all the commercial and financial activities in the region. This area is very densely populated and a large number of skyscrapers are also to be seen here, which justifies the presence of a large number of Mass Rapid Transit Stations. So do visit this Central Business Area of Singapore.
